  10. This file supplements the information in the EnterNet 300 Help 
  11. system. It contains EnterNet 300 installation guidelines, infor-
  12. mation about getting support for EnterNet 300, and information 
  13. about features or issues that are not yet documented elsewhere.

  22. 1. Installing EnterNet 300 for Windows
  23. ======================================
  24.  
  25. 1.1 Overview
  26. ------------
  27. If you received EnterNet 300 as a component of a suite of applica-
  28. tions, follow the installation instructions provided therein. If you 
  29. are installing EnterNet 300 as a stand-alone application, follow the 
  30. instructions below.

  32. EnterNet 300 is distributed in three formats: 
  33. (i) On CD-ROM. 
  34. (ii) As a self-extracting executable (typically ENTERNET300.EXE).
  35. (iii) As a "zip" archive (typically ENTERNET300.ZIP). Please refer
  36. to the appropriate paragraph below, basing your choice on your 
  37. distribution format.

  39. 1.2 Installing from a CD
  40. ------------------------
  41. If you are installing EnterNet 300 from a CD, insert the EnterNet 300
  42. CD into your CD-ROM drive. If after 30 seconds the EnterNet 300 
  43. installer has not automatically started, use Windows Explorer to 
  44. navigate to the root directory of the EnterNet 300 CD, and double-
  45. click the file named SETUP.EXE. Follow the on-screen instructions.

  49. 1.3 Installing from a Self-Extracting Executable
  50. ------------------------------------------------
  51. If you received EnterNet 300 electronically, and the file you 
  52. received has an "EXE" extension (like ENTERNET300.EXE), simply 
  53. double-click on the file and follow the on-screen instructions.

  57. 1.4 Installing from a "zip" Archive
  58. -----------------------------------
  59. If you are installing EnterNet 300 from a "zip" archive file (like 
  60. ENTERNET300.ZIP), create a temporary folder on your computer's hard 
  61. drive and extract all the files from the EnterNet 300 zip archive to 
  62. the temporary folder. Use Windows Explorer to navigate to the temp-
  63. orary folder, then double-click the file named SETUP.EXE. Follow the 
  64. on-screen instructions. After you have successfully installed 
  65. EnterNet 300, you may delete the temporary folder and its contents.

  69. 1.5 Installing on Windows NT & Windows 2000 Systems
  70. ---------------------------------------------------
  71. If you are installing EnterNet 300 on a Windows NT or Windows 2000 
  72. computer, you must install it while logged onto a Windows user 
  73. account that possesses Administrator privileges. EnterNet 300 is 
  74. installed as a Service, and is available to user accounts that do 
  75. not have Administrator privileges.

  77. 1.6 Installation Options
  78. ------------------------
  79. When you launch the EnterNet 300 installer, you will be asked to 
  80. select between a "Quick Install" and a "Step-By-Step install". If you 
  81. select the "Quick Install", the EnterNet 300 default installation 
  82. values are selected. You are then prompted to re-boot your system.
  83. If you select the "Step-By-Step Install", you are prompted:

  85. 1. To install the EnterNet 300 icon on your desktop (the 
  86. default value is "Yes"). 
  87. 2. To activate EnterNet 300 Dial-on-Demand feature (the
  88. default value is "No"). 
  89. 3. To accept the default installation folder or select another hard
  90. drive folder where you want to install EnterNet 300.

  93. 2. Technical Support
  94. ====================
  95. If you find yourself in need of assistance with EnterNet 300, you
  96. should check the EnterNet 300 Help system,  the User Guide, and 
  97. the online "Frequently Asked Questions" (FAQ) file before calling
  98. your technical support representative. To view the FAQ, point your
  99. browser to: http://support.efficient.com/KB/NTS/index.html

  101. You can launch the Help system either from within the EnterNet 300 
  102. application or by selecting Help from the EnterNet 300 folder on
  103. the Windows Start menu. You can launch the User Guide by 
  104. double-clicking the file named USERSGUIDE.PDF in the \app 
  105. subdirectory where EnterNet 300 was installed. You must have Adobe 
  106. Acrobat Reader installed on your computer in order to view the User
  107. Guide or the "Release Notes". You can download this free product from 
  108. the Adobe WWW page at the following URL: http://www.adobe.com.

  110. If you still need assistance after reading the FAQ, you should 
  111. contact your technical support representative. 
  112. NOTE: Efficient Networks, the OEM manufacturer of EnterNet 300, does
  113. not provide technical assistance directly to end users.
